"Radioactive zombie"
The head was created from a rough MetaNurb head that I had created
earlier. From this outline form I begin disfiguring the shape of it.
Several days were spent texturing the face. Ernie Wright's Unwrap plugin
was essential for this part. I started out roughing the key color areas:
eyes, cheeks and lips. From then on I added subtleties like the pores of
the skin on the nose and wrinkles around the eyes.
I then created the hairs for the head, face and nose. Quite a laborious
process that quadrupled the polygon count of the scene, but was
rewarding.
Once rendered by Lightwave 5.6 with an area light for the main light
source, I took the image into Photoshop to add a bloom and add contrast.
(I don't have Gaffer). This can be achieved in many ways but for my
purposes I duplicated the layer and blurred the duplicate with a
Gaussian Blur of around 12. I then set the layer to Soft Light.
I added the moon and 'Happy Halloween' text in Photoshop, but of course
they could easily have been texture mapped onto some polys in Lightwave
once they were created.
Any similarity to myself is purely coincidental! :-)
