"Frank"
To me, Frankenstein has always been my favorite monster. I watched Horror
Incorporated as a kid, and whenever a Frankenstein movie was on, I would be
sure to stay up late and catch the show. So when this months contest for
UGLY came up, I thought of Frank, and had to give it a shot.
After several abortive attempts, Frank was modeled using a combination of
point by point modeling, spline patching, and metanurbs. MetaForm was used
for the final shape. The cell wall (one polygon) and chains (lots of
polygons) were also modeled and textured in LightWave.
Key plugins that were used were unwrap by Ernie Wright. Used on the skin
textures.
Gaffer, and two Polk plugins, (Acid and Edge RGB) from Worley Labs.
PhotoShop was used for Image map creation.
System used was a Compaq P333, 128 megs ram, NT 4.0 and LightWave 5.6.
Final render time was about 18 min.
