Here's my entry for the contest. This is a modern
interpretation of Escher's DoublePlanetoid.
It contains 38,446 polys and 14.4 MB of image maps.
It took 18 minutes to render on a dual Pentium Pro 200
with 128MB RAM. The illusion of enmeshed structures
between the earth and city pyramids was created by using
carefully placed cylinders and oblong spheres as boolean
subtraction tools at points where the two objects
intersected. The boolean surfaces were given a dark
surface color to add a greater sense of depth.
