"The Storm", by Paul Mikulecky

This image was created in Lightwave 5.5. The most difficult part was to create the wave spray. I essentially duplicated the underlying wave, removed everything but the top of the wave. I then jittered the points and converted them all to polygons. I then rotated this 'spray' (and a couple of duplicates of the spray) and positioned it at the point where the original wave meets the rocks. The lighthouse, rock face, and rain add to the atmosphere of the scene.
