Snowisland
I started out with a DEM of the Hawaiin island of Kauii,
converted it to a tga file then used bmptolwo to make it
into a lwo object. This object was very large ( over 32,00
polys) I then used decimate to get it under 6,000 polys. The
water is just a flat plane subdived and triple several times.
The island is surfaced with fractilzer and the snow shader.
Snow shader settings are as follows:
snow amount: 8.2%
start slope: 50
end slope: 90

all other settings are at the default.

The rest of the image uses three lights:
1: distance light used with sky tracer
2: spotlight for extra sun light
3: point light for star
I also used the dof_blur filter.
The image was renderd in lightwave, the only outside retouching
was done in Colorworks. I adjusted the histogram and used Colorworks
jpeg compressor to get the file size from 193k to 41k.
