I had to make my choices based on the best pictures from a technical standpoint, rather than best depiction of Olympic spirit. Ironically, the Belushi pic, with the skier soaring impossibly high over snow-clad peaks, would have expressed that spirit of effort and excellence had it not been turned into a parody. Note on the Disaster pic: While technically not the best, this picture from the viewpoint of artistic expression is the most evocative for me.

not as good as last months lot!

Not bad pics!

All it's very nice but i have a preference for the number 10 - Keridan Elliott

Since I am not voting for my own picture (well it is pretty ropey), I am still on line for the record for the lowest number of votes - here's hoping. The selection of images last month was superior, but the subject was also far easier.

i really wonder why all the entries are about snowboard, ski, etc. no olympics idea without snow?I've voted them because of the technics theyve used.but no different idea ...

The two hockey shots seemed to vie for first. Actually they were very close, as the lighting and detail seemed equally well thought out. In the final analysis, I decided that the goalie shot had ahigher degree of difficulty with the extra modeling and posing. The other entries were good as well, but these 3 were first in my view.

Tough Choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this months entrys was easier to point out the strong entrys from the weak entrys. The 3 I voted for 10,6 and 1. Entry #1 has some strong composition, good modelling and lighting.Perhaps another lightsource [blue/white] could have helped defining the form of entry #1 better. Entry #2 has good modelling but a weak camera angle and no composition hurt it IMO. Some motion blurr and a tighter view of the skier would help draw the viewer into the image. Entry #3 has a good scense of humor :). However I felt it was a tad too blurry and the use of a low number of warm colored lights kinda destroyed the perception [to me] that this was taking place on a cool skating arena. Entry #4's composition is weak. Things that would make it look better: Kill the skis, or move them lower in the scene. Define the ramp more fully, the depth of field of the ground crowd was fine I would have tossed in some low poly buidlings to give it a greater sense of depth. I would have added 2 fists clenching the poles on either side as a forground element. Entry #5 has a good sense of speed to it, this would have been a contender if there was something else.. something just seemed to be missing.. I dunno.. perhaps some crowd elements in the foreground or see some snow/concrete edges of the track. Entry #6 had good composition. The only problem I had [and a minor one at that] was the lighting was a bit low so we didn't see much of his jersey and the forms that define it. Entry #7 was a good effort.. same problems as in #2. Entry #8 got strong posing.. but the composition could have been a bit stronger. If the boarder was offset to the sides a bit.. it would make it look alot more interesting rather than seeing the guy stuck in the center with equal amounts of dark sky around him. [if the sky was a bit more brighter this would kick ass]. Entry #9 ... interesting view on the sports :). If the reflections were toned down a bit and a bit more lighting added, this image would look better. Some foreground elements can help to bring a more 3d feel to the image. Entry #10 Oh baby come to papa! The lighting is very nice. The glow around the edges of the rink.. a very very nice ice setting... check out the bumpmap on the ice.. nice reflection settings as well. Clear defined modelling and pose. Nice evil underlight gives a psychotic look to the goalie hell bent on stopping that puck! Nice subtle effects on the glass, excellent texturing job! The winner IMO.

good work

Only 10 entrys but so hard to choose. I had to look through them all 5 times and then I still couldn't decide on the 3 best. I still had 5 favorites. Oh well, thanks to ya all who entered this month..

I love this contest!!!!!

First place - the stoppu image is not very detailed but it was so scary that it gave me vertigo! Very good! ... Second place - I liked the Disaster pic because it showed action and the

honorable mention to # 10

I think Stoppu.jpg by Adrian Pope, whilst not the most technically brilliant in terms of modelling/surfacing (IMO), conveys that gut-wrenching feeling you must get just before you dive off one of those things.

I'm afraid i didn't quite see the olympic spirit in most pictures.Though i didn't take part on this contest if i did i would think of an illustration that gives a message with meaning about this olympic games spirit not just a camera catch of a winter sport. At least this is my humble opinion...

Howdy, howdy, howdy:)

What can i say.. I keep getting amazed! Not only by the pictures (how well they are done), but also by the situation/story, the pictures are showing/telling!

I voted for Disaster. Ideas count over execution. Charming still (who needs photorealism anyway!).

All images were good. I chose the one that I thought best portrayed

Cool! A lot better than I could have done, (No really!)

there should be more difficult subjects like this

Egad, but I do love levity!

Far from being a sympathy vote, I think the concept makes the stoppu image work. This is what the olympics are all about. Well, except for the drugs I mean :)

The amount of detail in the KEGoalie.jpg image is really nice...especially the worn tape on the stick! The Hockey.jpg image is beautiful...almost photo-realistic! Hockey KICKS ASS!! (huh huh)
