"Training"
I created the skier using Organica 1.0 and then imported him into the Lightwave Modeler. Using Modeler I then created ski boots and poles and added them to the skier. I added a stock helmet which I found at www.3Dcafe.com (why reinvent the wheel?). I also created the snowscape using the Lightwave Modeler. This was a simple box object that I subdivided and then trippled. Using the Magnet tool I deformed the snowscape. I then created the flag, fence and skis using Lightwave Modeler. Using PhotoPaint 8.0 I created a texture map for the skis and applied them in Layout using a planar projection map. I also created two path like objects for the ski path where the skier has passed through the snow. I applied a fractal bump displacement map to them and the texture applied was a combination of a fractal diffusion map and fractal color map. I threw in a small particle stream (affected by Steamer) behind the skier and used the Sky Tracer to create the sky. No olympic decals were applied to this image as I have not obtained permission for their use. Furthermore, in this regard I refrained from using any markings so that the skier would retain a sense of anonymity.
This image hopefully conveys the fact that many hours of training and sacrifice must be made in order to become an olympian. I hope you enjoy the image.
