"Do 3D cows dream of electric mothers?"
Description: The cow is the standard LW cow with surface changes such as a
little fractal noise on the diffuse channel and an image bump map added.
Polygons were added around the mouth and nose to give more detail. The
".lwo" brand was a negative intensity spotlight with projection image.
For the "electric cow" I used the keypad section polys of the LW laptop
computer object. For the light beam surrounding the legs I used the
mid-section slice of the body bevelled to the ground and for surfacing used
transparent edges, a luminosity image map I made of random black & white
vertical streaks and some glow.
The 6,000 strands of grass are made up of 5 segments each, giving a total of
30,000 polylines which I jittered and used magnet on for variation. I used a
vertical gray scale gradient image on the transparency channel to give the
grass fine tips.
The fence posts I made from jittered segmented discs and for surfacing I
used only procedurals: a combination of fractal noise and wood on the color
channel and fractal noise with marble on diffuse, plus a crumple bump map.
I used a blue area light with ray-traced shadows as the main moon light, a
low intensity distant light from above instead of any ambient, plus 5
spotlights to simulate the glowing light coming from the wings of electric
cows flying overhead.
